This week we completed and passed our weight and measures inspection on our scale! This scale is going to be used to measure out our alcohol, allowing us to calculate how much water is needed to 'proof' our spirits. When alcohol is distilled, it is done at high rates with the final product being anywhere between 60-95%. The spirit needs proofed down to the desired percentage by adding reverse osmosis water.
So back to weight and measures... when we were told our scale had to be inspected to assure its accuracy we never expected it would be done so using multiple 500 kg (1,100 pound) weights...and a boom truck! It was quite interesting and we thought we would share a small video:
